I offer bilingual therapy, in Spanish and/or English.
I am passionate about empowering clients to gain self confidence, stronger sense of identity, the ability to build healthy relationships, with a deeper insight into their emotional issues, creating space for healing, growth and sustainable symptom relief. I believe how we move through the world is directly connected to our most basic understanding of our selves, and the relationships and role models we have grown up with and have consciously or unconsciously integrated. I also believe our culture plays a significant role shaping our identities, the experiences and relationships with the context we live in.
During individual counseling sessions I typically use Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Relational-Cultural Theory and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy as the bedrock of the therapeutic work. However, it is inclusive of other theories and tools, as during the course of therapy I am likely to draw on various psychological approaches according to your needs and individual goals for therapy.
I approach therapy as a collaboration, rooted in understanding each person as an individual in the context of their family, history, culture and daily life. My therapeutic style is relational, and incorporates warmth, humor, and honest feedback. As someone who has moved through different cultures, I understand that when people feel honored and heard, they feel safe. And when they feel safe, they can look at their issues in a different way, creating space for change to take place. I work to create an experience in which you feel safe to explore and to develop understanding of your inner world, your relationships and environment.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon (C8919), and a LMHC in the state of Washington. In 2005, I earned my Master’s degree in Psychology in Argentina. Since then I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients in different modalities and for a variety of issues. In Argentina I gained extensive clinical experience and training with focus on Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. The very beginning of my career was dedicated to helping children and families. I worked at the Children State Hospital providing support in the Child Abuse Outpatient Program and to hospitalized children navigating complex medical conditions. Following that, I worked as a Forensic- clinical therapist at Córdoba State Prison for 8 years performing assessments and providing psychotherapy to persons impacted by the justice system. Individuals who were struggling with emotional discomfort and pain, as well as other psychological concerns, and who have been impacted by relational trauma resulting from childhood neglect and abuse, and systems oppression. Meanwhile, I dedicated part of my time working as Graduate Teaching Assistant at Córdoba National University.
In 2012, I started my private practice where I provided consulting and counseling services to individuals experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, feelings of shame and self doubts, family and relational issues, identity development and life challenges and changes. A couple of years later I moved with my family to Oregon. In the U.S. I found an opportunity to start a new professional journey dedicated to enhancing and complementing my professional skill set with focus on Relational-Cultural Theory, Trauma-informed practices, Cognitive-Behavioral skills, and mindfulness tools. Currently I split the bulk of my work between my private practice and my role as mental health counselor at a local community college, where I have worked since 2015.
